DeepBuoy™ Technical Data
DeepBuoy™ has a range of benefits over other widely used floatation technologies.
The features and benefits of DeepBuoy™ are listed below.
Features
- Transferrable 'pumpable' buoyancy
- Low density (550 Kgs/M3) Liquid
- Capable of 3000m water depth
- Uses a conventional ROV with pump - pumped from storage tank by ROV into inflatable bags that lift and control the structure’s movement
- Fluid can be pumped from the surface
- Buoyant force independent of depth
- No lifting from the surface
- Controllable lift down to +/-10kg of weight
- Enabling technology
Benefits
- Precise and safe way to place, move and recover structures from depth
- Can go deeper than divers
- Does not require divers or liftlines so decreases health and safety risks
- Quicker than using a conventional crane and ROV
- Can extend the crane capacity especially at depth
- Not weather-dependent
- Very safe for moving structures such as pipelines that are in live production
- Use of conventional ROV means that job can be completed with other ROV activities on a campaign
DeepBuoy™ Gell Running Through a Pipe
This is a demonstration video to show the viscosity of DeepBuoy™ buoyancy gel, allowing it to be pumped. It's virtual incompressibility means it's buoyancy remains the same despite any change in pressure.
